In Pt 1 of our Prospect Primer Series, we covered five of Utah’s top prospects playing for their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. Artem Duda, Julian Lutz, Maveric Lamoureux, Miko Matikka, and Maximilian Szuber are already professionals, and just one call-up away from making an impact in the NHL. In this article, we will look at players in the Canadian Hockey League, which is comprised of three Junior (amateur) leagues; The Western Hockey League (WHL), the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The prospects that are highlighted in this article are a bit further away from debuting for the Utah Hockey Club but they are no less highly regarded, and they represent foundational pieces to the future success of the franchise.
